ABDOMINAL ULTRASOUND SCANNING

  • This course is designed for physicians and technicians who are at the entry level of ultrasound scanning and interpretation as well as sonographers and other healthcare professionals learning abdominal ultrasound
  • The 3-day training focuses on the daily practice of abdominal diagnostics. It starts with an introduction to the ultrasound techniques involved in abdominal examination and general handling of the ultrasound device. The course comprises an introduction to normal ultrasound anatomy of abdominal organs, followed by pathologic changes as well as postoperative situations, acute settings and interventional assistance
  • Our experts will deliver insight in arising ultrasound modi and ultasound contrast agents. In interactive teaching lessons they will explain the clinical relevance of ultrasound and its role compared to other diagnostic modalities (CT, MRI, angiography)
  • To provide long lasting understanding and efficient usage, participants will have the opportunity to examine volunteers or real patients in small guided groups. The final goal upon completion of this training is the correct and independent performance of abdominal ultrasound examinations.

FETAL ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY

Fetal echocardiography is an ultrasound test performed during pregnancy to evaluate the heart of the unborn baby. Echocardiography assesses the heart's structures and function. Fetal echocardiography can help detect fetal heart abnormalities before birth, allowing for faster medical or surgical intervention once the baby is born. This improves the chance of survival after delivery for babies with serious heart defects.

  • Introduction to Congenital Heart Disease, Tools for Fetal Echo: 2D, M-mode, Doppler, Embryology & anatomy of the Fetal Hear, Physiology, Cardiac scanning views, Fetal Heart Evaluation (step 1 to 4)
  • Epstein malformation of the tricuspid valve, tricuspid dysplasia & insufficiency, hypoplastic right heart syndrome, tricuspid atresia, pulmonic stenosis, pulmonary atresia w/ intact venticular septum, premature closure of the ductus arteriosus & the foramen ovale, aortic stenosis, hypoplastic left heart syndrome, left ventricular aneursym, septal defects (atrial, ventricular & atrioventricular)

BARIATRIC SURGERY

The Bariatric surgery Programme provides the essential training for a practicing General Surgeon or those who have just completed advanced General Surgery training as well as experienced bariatric surgeons, to achieve baseline and advanced competency in Laparoscopic bariatric surgery in order to begin safe and effective clinical and operative practice.

Through the use of the newest technology and information we strive to be leader in the education of the community and healthcare providers in the field of weight loss surgery.

COURSE OVERVIEW

The course is designed to practice the steps of laparoscopic gastric banding, gastric sleeve resection, gastric bypass in a wet lab to reduce operative time and complications.

OBJECTIVE

Completion of two day teaching term will enable participants to:

  • Describe equipments and technology required for minimally invasive bariatric surgery.
  • Describe the clinical pathway of patients, patience selection, indications and contraindications to the use of laparoscopy for bariatric surgery.
  • Apply the latest minimally invasive surgeries techniques in a clinical environment.
  • Lectures, Video presentation, step by step and extended discussion with the Bariatric programme team.
  • Describe complication management in bariatric surgery.
  • Practice Laparoscopic gastric banding, gastric sleeve resection, gastric bypass in a wet lab.
